About Nicole Tourangeau
Nicole currently lives in Kamloops and graduated from Thompson Rivers University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She then went on to complete a Masters of Social work with the University of Northern British Columbia. While at the University of Northern British Columbia, Nicole focused her studies on counselling and, in particular, focused her research around working with individuals who have experienced trauma and around incorporating arts-based programming with various counselling modalities.
Nicole is a Registered Social Worker who specializes in counselling for individuals, couples, groups, and families. Nicole works with children, youth, and adults who have a wide array of concerns including: anxiety, depression, anger, suicidal ideation, trauma, assertiveness, relationship building, boundaries, etc.
Nicole approaches practice through a trauma-informed and client centered perspective with the overall goal of supporting her clients to achieve higher states of wellness by providing support/guidance and practical strategies. During the counselling sessions, Nicole uses a variety of treatment modalities including Satir Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solutions-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), etc. in order to provide a highly personalized approach to the client's concerns. Nicole is committed to providing counselling sessions through a compassionate based approach that highlights clients strengths.
